The story behind my inspiration: Randomly, I checked Fandango and saw "Princess Mononoke" subtitled screening at the nearest theater. As an animation fan and hardcore Hayao Miyazaki lover, I went alone to watch! At the time, I was working at an organization called Seeding Sovereignty, and its audience responded well to co-creation. Feeling completely emboldened by the movie's message of resistance, land back, colonialism, the guardians of nature, and humanizing animal spirits, I headed into the Instagram broadcast channel holding 930 members. Just days prior I asked that community to share some liberation affirmations to drive hope and inspiration. Some replies fit with the overall goal of the post, and Hayao Miyazaki's creations from Ponyo -> Princess Mononoke -> Boy In The Heron were the perfect imagery to bring it all together.
